About the Role
Bowman Farm is a family-owned and operated 600-cow dairy farm, located 10 km from Gloucester on the NSW Mid North Coast. We are seeking a Senior Dairy Cattle Worker / Dairy Farm Operator to work closely with our herdsperson and assist in all aspects of animal and herd management.
This role suits someone who is patient, detail-oriented, and passionate about animal care, looking for a long-term, stable position with opportunities for growth in the dairy industry.
About Our Farm
- Predominantly Holstein herd
- Year-round batch calving
- Pasture & TMR feeding system (70% home-grown feed)
- Fully automated 30-a-side herringbone dairy featuring:
- Auto ID
- Auto feeding
- Auto cup removal
- Auto drafting
- Rapid exit system
Working Hours
- 40–50 hours per week
- Rotating roster
- Weekend work required
- Guaranteed overtime available
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Milk harvesting
- Dairy start-up, shut-down, and clean-up
- Dairy hygiene and milk quality assurance
- Herd health management (mastitis control, treatments, records)
- Computer data entry and dairy software usage
- Calf and heifer rearing
- Heat detection and drying off stock
- Feeding and stock treatments
- Animal welfare and maintenance
- General dairy cleaning and maintenance
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Honest, reliable, and hardworking
- Able to work independently and within a team
- Flexible with working hours and weekend rosters
- Highly attentive to cleanliness and animal welfare
- Positive attitude with strong communication and common sense
🔹 1–3+ years of dairy experience preferred, but not essential
🔹 A genuine love for working with animals is essential
