Job Overview

  • Position: Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) – Maternity Leave Coverage

Salary and Pay Details

  • Hourly Wage: $19.20 per hour (includes government funding top-up)

Work Schedule

Key Responsibilities

As an Early Childhood Assistant, you will work under the supervision of Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to support children’s overall development. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting children with daily routines
  • Supporting cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development
  • Helping implement individualized learning experiences
  • Assisting with therapeutic programs such as speech therapy, behavior guidance, and physiotherapy
  • Providing a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment
  • Supporting recommendations from external agencies when required

All duties are carried out in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), the ELECT framework, How Does Learning Happen, and the Prosserman JCC Daycare & Preschool Program Statement.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

  • Experience working with children
  • Strong English language skills
  • Standard First Aid Certification
  • CPR Certification

Preferred / Assets

  • Minimum 2 years of childcare experience
  • Knowledge of the ELECT framework and How Does Learning Happen
  • Hebrew language skills (asset, not required)
  • Knowledge of Jewish life, traditions, and culture or willingness to learn

Pre-Employment Requirements

Successful candidates will be required to provide:

  • TB Step-2 clearance
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Proof of immunization records
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C certification
